Dec. 21: Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

What makes it Christmassy

This is a movie about believing in Kris Kringle, so yeah.

Chore Watching Index: 6/10

As a forties film you have to have some tolerance for the lack of color, sexism, slow pace, naivete, etc.

Standout Performances

Maureen O’Hara doesn’t take shit from no one, unless you look a lot like Santa Claus. Natalie Wood is the “mini-me” version.

Mood

Looking for the glamour of a bygone era, when people were stupid, but classier.

WTF

Adult supervision was way more loosey in the forties, huh? Also, there’s a strange black-and-white TV adaptation floating around that might fool you.
